The Power of Community Learning in a Time of Change
Ashley Finley
Keynote Speaker
10:30 AMÂ to 11:45 AM ET
At a time of enormous change in the world, the United States, and particularly within higher education, should we be rethinking everything we know about learning communities, or should we double down on what we know already? Maybe both. Asking hard questions about purpose, quality and equity is an opportunity to articulate why these experiences matter for students’ learning and development as members of communities - small and large. These are also the questions that drive meaningful assessment. This session will invite participants to consider the ways in which assessment can be used as an equity-centered tool for unlocking the power of learning within communities by telling the story of efficacy, rather than assuming it. Participants will be encouraged to reflect on how existing practices can be mined to maximize resources, increase collaboration, and leverage evidence for improvement.
